 The architect of the building was selected through an international competition in 1895.  which was the first of its kind, and was won by the French architect, Marcel Dourgnon.

The Temple of Philae is an ancient Egyptian temple complex located on Philae Island in Lake Nasser, near Aswan, Egypt. The Temple is known for its dedication to the goddess Isis and its stunning ancient Egyptian architecture and art. The Temple is also significant as a major center of worship for the goddess Isis, reflecting the importance of Isis in Egyptian religion. The temple also illustrates the influence of both Ptolemaic and Roman periods on Egyptian architecture and culture.
